100G single-lambda (namely single-wavelength 100Gbps) is an optical specification for single-wavelength 100Gbps transmission using PAM4 modulation technology. The specification was published by the 100G Lambda Multi-Source Protocol (MSA) working group. It aims to provide a more cost-effective solution for 100G applications. The traditional 100G solution adopts four-channel 25Gbps optical channel, which realizes 100G transmission through wavelength division multiplexing or channel parallel. Each channel requires separate transmitting and receiving devices, which puts forward high requirements on the power consumption, spatial layout and cost of optical module. Meanwhile, the large number of components leads to higher failure rate of the whole module. The 100G single-lambda optical module reduces the number of transmitting and receiving units from 4 to 1, effectively reducing the internal optical complexity of the optical module, greatly reducing the number of components, reducing the cost synchronously, and making it easier to realize single-fiber bidirectional transmission through single-wavelength technology.

The single-wavelength 100G QSFP28 BIDI LR1optical module introduced by OPWAY complies with the 100G single Lambda MSA standard and adopts the QSFP28 optical module package and single-channel LC fiber interface to realize single-fiber bidirectional full-duplex service transmission. The 100G DSP chip is integrated inside the module. Four 25Gbps NRZ signals on the electrical side and one 100Gbps PAM4 signal on the optical side are provided. The transmission adopts a refrigerated airtight package, which can meet the carrier-class requirements. The 100G QSFP28 BIDI BOSA has a wavelength of 1271/1331nm and is developed using the homemade high-speed device packaging platform from OPWAY with high reliability and low cost, which can meet the demand for large quantities of supplies.
